Nigel Edison Live at MB Speakeasy in Old Town Spring

You’ve seen him all over the side stages of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and he’s opened up for all of your country favorites including Gary Allan, David Allen Coe, and Stoney LaRue. That’s right, we’re talking about Houston’s own Nigel Edison. 

Where did it all start? Well, for Nigel Edison it started at 10 years old with a trumpet, a dream, and family. Nigel says his musical life was born from his father’s obsession of old westerns, his mother’s love, and his older brother dragging him around to karaoke bars in the 90s. If he can survive karaoke in the 90s he’s earned it! This “family trifecta” eventually spring-boarded him into playing guitar, writing original music, and forming the Nigel Edison Band. 

“I started playing in the local bar scene in 2002 and released a 6-song demo in hopes of making a name for myself sooner rather than later. It didn’t take nearly as long as I thought. The band quickly started opening for really big acts. It’s was exciting, overwhelming, and humbling all at the same time. I’ll admit, I’m not so sure I would have picked this line of work if I had known how hard it would be to make a living at it, but the truth is, I would have done it for free anyway.” Nigel Edison

One thing is for sure, we are glad Nigel chose music! Fans say original songs like “Clothes On The Floor” and “The Swing” have an almost “time-traveling” ability. Long time music-goer Andrea says “His songs can transport you to a time where the little things always mattered most and anything worth having is definitely worth fighting for.”

Nigel thanks God everyday for giving him the chance to express himself to others through music. He’s come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what style of music it is, just as long as it resonates in the heart and soul of the listener and always makes them feel something.

It will be country, it will be western, and it will be moving.
